People of Turkmenistan to See Paintings of Caravaggio and Learn about Culture of Iran in February

Cultural Days of the Islamic Republic of Iran are scheduled for 7-9 February. As part of this creative campaign, Ashgabat will see the exhibition of decorative and applied arts, film screenings, performances by folk, musical and singing groups of the friendly country. Meetings will be organized for representatives of creative communities and children’s joint concert will be held. The guests will visit museums, historical sites and attractions of the Turkmen capital.

Program of Events and Celebrations for 2018 Approved

Throughout the year, key historical and cultural sites of the country, once crossed by the Great Silk Road, will host scientific conferences, creative festivals, musical performances, archaeological exhibitions and folk contests; furthermore, theater plays, compilations of pieces by destan singers, thematic editorial production and souvenirs will be prepared. A series of events will be dedicated to the national rite of singing and dancing, Kushtdepdi, that was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Cultural Heritage.


International Burn Treatment Center to Be Added to Capital’s Vast Healthcare Establishments

As indicated in the document, the project of the new medical center will be implemented with the purpose of enhancing the logistical and resource base of the country’s healthcare system; providing specialized help to the population in burn treatment, and continuing works to build modern healthcare facilities equipped with advanced medical technology.


Turkmenistan ratified the Ramsar Convention 10 years ago

At present time, the convention is supported by 169 countries including Central Asian region. Turkmenistan has one such object. This is Turkmenbashy Gulf. From the date of its nomination in 2009, our country is its full member according to the Convention rules. The Working Group was nominated for the work at the Ramsar territory. Its representatives monitor the hibernation of wetland birds, inspect the condition of the main ornithological territories and propose the ways of their use. They also participated in the elaboration of the Ramsar Regional Initiative f Central Asia, which is new mechanism that’s is to support the protection of wetland territories in the country, to nominate new territories to the Ramsar List.
