From the ports of the three oceans
Plants in modular units, large-size aggregates, and engineering assemblages, exploitation equipment for the oil and gas sector, track-and wheel-type heavy technique come to Turkmenistan over the sea route. By means of cranes with lifting capacity up to thousand and a half tons, the technological sections of industrial installations, poured products in capacious packing on trays, large-diameter pipes and other heavy cargo are promptly shifted from water to land transport and delivered to the points of destination on heavy-load automobiles and multiaxle trailers with the carrying capacity of over hundred tons.
At other times, the freight region of the port reminds the fantastic city of high lines of wood, pipes, steel-works, equipment and containers lined up along two sides of numerous trains and passages. Long-length trailers, heavy-load machinery, cranes, loaders, motor trolleys move to and fro between them. They uninterruptedly modify the observable picture and a “square” immediately appears on place of “streets” and at the place, where was a vacant lot several hours ago, new “skyscraper” from girder reinforcements and factorial modules is erected. Freight is going to arrive to the port and dispatched in opposite direction by all kinds of transport with the exception of air.
Part of them is delivered to the sites of industrial and civil construction of the resort city and the National tourist zone “Avaza”. Transit follows from the port to foreign recipients. Large part of cargo arrived by sea is delivered to numerous construction sites of Turkmenistan. The flow of freights from the port to eastern Turkmenistan –the major region of natural gas production is really impressive. Presently, over 30 high productive gas and gas condensate fields are under development.
Large volumes of building materials, facing marble, granite, wrought timbers, industrial and agricultural equipment, motor transport technique, metal goods and other freights from the ports of Turkey, Russia, Iran, United Arab Emirates, South Korea and other countries of far and near abroad are delivered to the international Turkmenbashi seaport by the national fleet and foreign ships. Shippers and foreign partners on economic cooperation with Turkmenistan from China, Canada, USA, Ukraine, Malaysia, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Japan, Netherlands and other states enjoy the services of the port. Cargo traffic from ports of the countries of Far East is particularly intensive.
Intensive navigable routes connected the International Turkmenbashi seaport with the trade harbors of all the Caspian countries, stimulating stably increasing growth of commodity exchange. Large volume of cement, wood chipboards, dyes, crack fillers, laminated flooring board, building bars, metal and composite pipes and other freights arrive to Turkmenbashi from neighbors. Thousands of tons of products of the national enterprises – light and dark oil products, coke, polypropylene and other high liquid derivatives of deep treatment of oil and natural gas are transported on way back from Turkmenistan. Only within the first half-year of the current year, freight turnover of the Turkmen merchant marine has increased by 19.4%, having formed out 216.3 million tonne-kilometers.
It is planned the fast construction in Turkmenbashi city of the Institute of Water Transport fitted with modern equipment with the use of multimedia technologies of education in accordance with the international standards for training of qualified staff.
Cardinal modernization of the coast constructions has been started in the international Turkmenbashi port. With the completion of the construction of new handling complexes in 2020, the area of the port will be expanded from 40 up to 150 hectares and carrying capacity will increase from 10 up to 25 million tons of cargo per year. Principally new sea terminals with multifunctional terminals fitted with up-to-date materials handling equipment will raise the work of the Turkmenbashi port to qualitatively higher level.
