Turkmen-Korean partnership in the sphere of ecology

Seminar devoted to the international experience in the sphere of use of environmentally appropriate technologies in the programs of socio-economic development was held in the conference hall of President-hotel. The forum was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Academy of Sciences of the country jointly with the Embassy of Republic of Korea.

The representatives of the Research Institutes of the Academy of Sciences, various sectoral ministries and departments of the country as well as members of the specially arrived Korean delegation, which included the representatives of the Korean adaptation center for climate change, Institute of environment, Ministry of environment, center for control and research of greenhouse gases, group for development of fuel-energy market, took part in the forum held in the format of “round-table meeting”.

Contributors presented the national reports on experience of application of the latest ecological technologies in the industrial sectors of economy and preventive measures, being taken in Turkmenistan and Republic of Korea for prevention of climatic effects.

- We all are aware that the world has turned out in the conditions of global climate change. It entails the adjustment of whole world economic activity, change of conditions of ecosystems’ functioning, - said the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Korea in Turkmenistan An Meng Su, who participated in the meeting of ecologists. As ambassador plenipotentiary the friendly country emphasized, efficient meeting of like-minded persons was held in Ashgabat today. They are confident that it is possible to minimize the effects of changing climate only making common cause and using at that both prospective scientific designs and accumulated positive world experience, including of Turkmenistan and our country in this important sphere.

In the course of the seminar, its participants discussed the prospects of further expansion of the Turkmen-Korean partnership, possibilities of development of joint programs in the field of introduction of “green” resource-saving technologies, first of all, in oil and gas sector, and declared for necessity of exchange the experience of efficient use of natural resources as well as for stirring up of scientific-practical interaction with a view of securing the general ecological welfare.
