Results of the elections to the National Parliament

The results of the elections to the Mejlis of the fifth convocation were summed up during a meeting of Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan.

2,446 polling stations were opened in the territory of the constituencies for the election campaign. Citizens of Turkmenistan residing in foreign countries had an opportunity to vote in 33 polling stations opened at the embassies and consular offices of Turkmenistan abroad. The elections of the National Parliamentarians were distinguished by the high voter turnout during the election campaign and on the voting day as well. According to the Central Commission, 2,797,637 voters, or 91.33 percent of all citizens of Turkmenistan who are eligible to vote, participated in the election campaign. Summing up this year's election campaign, 125 deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan were elected, of them 15 deputies - in Ashgabat, 15 - in Ahal Velayat, 10 - in Balkan Velayat, 27 - in Dashoguz Velayat, 28 - in Lebap Velayat and 30 - in Mary Velayat. Two or more candidates were registered per one place in all 125 constituencies.

Among the deputies elected to the Mejlis of the fifth convocation 47 represent the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, 14 - the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, 33 – the Organisation of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan, 16 – the Women's Union of Turkmenistan, 8 - Magtymguly Youth Organisation and 7 - groups of citizens. The lists of the newly elected Mejlis deputies and the members of halk maslahaty in the newly established etraps of Turkmenbashi – Avaza and Kenar – will be published in media.
