A telling example of that are the outcomes of foreign visits that were made during the reporting period by the head of state, as well as of the visits to Turkmenistan by several foreign heads of state and leaders of reputable international organizations, including the UN Secretary-General, stated the Vice Premier, head of the MFA, Rashid Meredov, during the expanded cabinet session that reviewed the outcomes of 2017.

In 2017, 584 delegations of different levels visited our country. At the same time, 624 delegations were sent abroad. 235 events – conferences, meetings etc. – were organized in Turkmenistan and outside the country. 18 sessions of joint Intergovernmental Commissions and 14 bilateral business forums were held. These events are of specific significance in strengthening commercial and economic ties, cultural and humanitarian contacts with foreign partners.

Stressing Turkmenistan’s ongoing commitment to the constructive foreign policy based on the status of permanent neutrality, principles of peacefulness and good-neighborliness, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the importance of continued systematic work towards optimal use of the existing potential and possibilities for the further strengthening of effective cooperation in priority fields.
