Monuments of Turkmenistan in the encyclopedia of CIS World Heritage

Owing to support of the Intergovernmental fund of humanitarian cooperation of CIS countries, it was published encyclopedia-album “World Heritage of the Commonwealth of Independent States”. This volumetric illustrated book reflects in detail 35 facilities of UNESCO’s World Heritage List from 11 countries of the Commonwealth: these are ancient fortresses, cloisters, temples and mosques, ancient countries, palace and park ensembles, archeological and natural sights as well as unique performance genres and artistic crafts.

“The Turkmen never say “desert” –from these words start the introductory article to the part about Turkmenistan. Their meaning is disclosed in the course of narration about historical fate of our people, peculiarities of traditional mode of life, origination of canons of the arts developed on the basis of crafts, which secrets of mastery were carefully passed from generation to generation and preserved up till now.

Another important project of the intergovernmental humanitarian partnership is the creation of the Center of preservation of world cultural heritage of member countries of the Commonwealth. The tasks of the Center will become the popularization of facilities of the World Cultural Heritage, development and realization of joint programs and projects in the field of estimation of technical state of monuments of cultural heritage, unification of efforts in elaboration of methodological principles of preservation and restoration of other facilities, proposals on their active utilization for development of tourism and international cooperation.
