“Days of Culture of the USA in Turkmenistan – 2012” – joint action of the Ministry of Culture of our country and Embassy of the USA in Turkmenistan started in Ashgabat. American scientists, musicians, artists, jewelers and masters of art of cookery became its participants.
Panorama of events of the Days of Culture of the USA in the Turkmen capital and administrative centers of Mary and Lebap provinces includes the concerts, demonstration of movies, master classes, creative meetings and symposia with participation of the workers of culture and art. American guests will familiarize with rich cultural heritage, wonderful original traditions of the Turkmen people, and attainments of the country. Visit of a series of museums will contribute to it to a considerable degree. These museums present the rarities of the antiquity, collection of the fine arts of the national masters of painting, sculptures, ceramics, jewelry and carpet-weaving art.
Program of the Days of Culture of the USA in Turkmenistan was opened with meetings and seminars in several creative educational establishments of the capital with participation of the American guests – artist Diana Stetson and jeweler Steve Larance.
Apotheosis of the first day of the scale cultural action is the official opening ceremony of the Days of Culture of the USA in Turkmenistan held in Mukams Palace of the National Cultural Center. Enthusiastic performances of the masters of culture and art of the friendly country were welcomed with storm of applauses.
Tomorrow, on November 24, within the framework of the second day of the forum, artistic exhibitions, creative seminars and symposia will be held in the Fine Arts Museum and Main National Museum of Turkmenistan. American feature films will be shown in “Ashgabat” cinema.
The capital stage of the Days of Culture of the USA in Turkmenistan will be completed in “Watan” cinema and concert hall with performances of the musical group of Ari Ronald, which will perform famous jazz compositions. On the same day, the American chief cook Jim Lahi will hold the presentation in the format of demonstrative master class for students and tutors of the specialized educational establishment of Ashgabat, which train the masters of cookery. Jim Lahi – the owner of pizzeria-restaurant and popular net of “Sullivan Street Bakery” in New York.
On the same day, the Days of Culture of the USA will be continued in Turkmenabat and Mary, where creative meetings, seminars and concerts will be organized as well. Musicians of “Della May” and “Clinton Curtis” groups will take part in it as well.
On November 25, in the final day of the forum program, demonstration of feature film "Gone with the Wind" – one of the first color films shot by the novel by Margaret Mitchell will be held in the capital’s “Ashgabat” film art centre. This film won the record number of “Oscar” premiums.
Film repertoire of the program of the Days of Culture of the USA offered to the attention of Ashgabat viewer included biographic-feature film of James Mangold “Walk the line”, telling about life of the legendary country singer Johnny Cash, which won three Golden Globe Awards in the nominations “best film”, and motion picture “Baseball field” devoted to the topic of family sport.
Within the framework of the Days of Culture of the USA, meetings and creative seminars with the representatives of Smithsonian National Museum Complex of Washington was held at the Ministry of Culture and Turkmen National Conservatoire.
