President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. The domestic policy issues and draft of important documents were considered during the meeting.
As the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reported, the Vice Premiers presented the reports on the current situation in the sectors under their supervision.
The reports focused on the progress in implementing the programme aimed at promoting trade and textile sectors and the preparations for the International Investment Forum of Turkmenistan which would take place in the Republic of Turkey.
It was noted that practical steps were taken to implement the Turkmen leader’s initiatives put forward at the 66th session of the UN General Assembly and the Rio+20, United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development and to introduce mandatory environmental insurance. The reports focused on the preparations for the upcoming state visit of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovich to Turkmenistan. It was noted that Turkmenistan and Ukraine established diplomatic relations in 1992, and 121 documents at different levels had been signed since then.
The President was informed on the preparations for a regular session of the Parliament – the Mejlis of the fourth convocation that would consider a number of legislative acts.
The reports spotlighted the current situation in the agro-industrial sector and the progress of seasonal agricultural activities. It was noted that the preparations for the spring cotton campaign were under way. About 90 percent of lands under the technical crop had been ploughed. Agricultural workers were engaged in applying fertiliser and planning fields in line with agro-technical requirements. Particular attention was being given to the preparation of agricultural machines and quality seeds; cotton varieties to be sown are selected according to soil and climatic conditions of the regions. Agricultural workers were engaged also in caring for winter crops, applying fertilizers and irrigating fields.
The reports focused on the progress of construction of important facilities, the measures taken to optimize activities of transport and communication enterprises and the preparatory works for the construction of the international airport in Turkmenabat and the Turkmenabat-Farab railway and highway bridges across the Amudarya. The reports spotlighted the progress in implementing the oil and gas, chemical and fishing industry development programme for 2012-2016 and the measures taken to promote international cooperation in the fuel and energy sector.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved in whole and signed the Resolution on the introduction of mandatory environmental insurance. The Turkmen leader approved in whole the draft National Biodiversity Conservation Strategy of Turkmenistan for 2013-2020. The Ministry of Nature Protection intended to implement this project jointly with the United Nations Development Programme and the Global Environment Facility and develop a set of effective mechanisms for promoting the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
The President demanded that the National Flag Day celebrations be held solemnly and widely in the country.
The President issued the Resolution on the construction of the new international airport in Turkmenabat, the Resolution on the construction of the Turkmenabat-Farab railway bridge across the Amudarya and the Resolution on the construction of the Turkmenabat-Farab highway bridge across the Amudarya. The President also issued the Resolution on the purchase of road tankers for the Turkmennebitgazgurlusyk State Concern. The document authorized the Turkmennebitgazgurlusyk State Concern to conclude the contract with Stock Plaza LLP (UK) for the purchase of 80 eight-wheeled road tankers at its own expense.

The complex will include the large storehouse with the total area of 10,400 square metres for the storage of medicines and medical devices and a chemistry and microbiology laboratory. It is planned also to build five small specialized storehouses and a storehouse of the State Insurance Fund of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry.
