The Week of Culture, having taken its run straight away and swept over the Caspian seashore like a festival wave, is gathering momentum.
A series of today’s events began at the children’s recreational centre Dayanc, where the cheerful competition “Free Seagulls” took place in the morning before the sun got burning hot.
Children competed in dexterity, agility and wit in outdoor games and national sports to the encouraging cheers of numerous fans.
Folk games, originally reflecting the ancient national traditions, rituals and customs, are an integral part of our rich cultural heritage. They have always been a part of nationwide festivities and family celebrations, and nowadays they are an attribute of large scale events in honour of remarkable dates celebrated in our country and are included in the ‘cultural’ programme of many festive events and activities.
The conference “Folk Art is a Foundation of Turkmen Art” was held in the afternoon.
The forum organized by the Ministry of Culture focused on the ways to conserve and promote the national cultural heritage. It brought together over 200 participants, including scientists, art historians, culture experts, specialists of museums and cultural centres, teachers and students of art schools and members of a number of folk groups from all over the country.
The agenda covered a wide range of issues, including joint work of specialists of cultural, recreational and educational institutions on conservation and study of folklore, development of traditional crafts, encouragement of research in the folklore and singing heritage, promotion of folk cultural, applied and decorative arts, enrichment of the repertoire of amateur groups and singers, etc.
A classical music concert was performed by the State Symphony Orchestra in the amphitheatre on the background of the sea fountain in the evening. The programme of the open air concert held on the main stage of the seaside resort consisted of the pieces of national and world classical music.
The concert was the fascinating finale of this day in Avaza, adding a subtle melody of harmony and wonderful music, which wins the hearts of people at all times, to the events.
