Folk and ethnographic expedition, which included the representatives of culture and art, scientific and educational spheres, students of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture, Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly, journalists, literary men, photographers, visited Dashoguz province.


A large and versatile composition of the expedition allowed realizing active research work with wide covering of trends. It was gathered a lot of interesting data, facts belonging to the folk song and music art, decorative and applied creativity, customs and traditions, material culture of everyday life.

Members of the expedition have met with local craftsmen, masters, old residents, students of local history and others. It was gathered a rich informative photo material, which will be processed and analyzed. Then, it will be presented in a series of research works on ethnography and folklore, journalistic essays, educational articles and illustrations. The gathered information will be used by the students for yearly essays and degree works, reports at the scientific-practical conferences. Participation in the expedition allowed them touching the traditional culture of population of the northern region of the country, meet with natives of tradition, and get skills of folk and ethnographic researches.
