view-icon 1997
The Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan became a good sign of strengthening friendly relations between the two neighbouring countries.

The cultural event held in accordance with the top-level agreements promoted creative communication between the two fraternal nations and added a new page to the chronicle of the centuries-old traditions of the interpenetration of national cultures and arts.

The art forum has coincided with the 290th birth anniversary of a Turkmen classic poet Magtymguly Fraghi that is widely and solemnly celebrated in Turkmenistan this year. The celebrations in honour of the great son of the Turkmen people, who glorified the ideals of peace, merciless and friendship in his immortal works, are arranged in the framework of various cultural events, scientific forums, presentations of new editions of the poet’s verses and art exhibitions in many countries. Evidence for the international recognition of the literary heritage of the great Turkmen poet and thinker was the International Science Conference “Magtymguly and Turkic literature” held in Almaty in mid-April, which was attended by the researchers and scientists of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.

The forum provided the platform for holding the presentation of the new editions of Magtymguly’s verses and the popular science books about the life and work of the poet published in many languages.

The Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Kazakhstan were held under the sign of the birth anniversary of the outstanding Turkmen poet. A large delegation consisting of arts and cultural workers, writers and poets, librarians and museum experts arrived in Almaty to participate in the conference.

The opening ceremony of the Days of Culture took place in the concert hall of Zhambyl Kazakh State Philharmonic Society on April 29. Its stage was the venue for a gala concert performed by leading artists and artistic groups from our country. The concert programme included wonderful folk melodies and songs based on the words of great Fraghi, musical and theatrical compositions that were rewarded by the grateful audience with a standing ovation.

An exhibition of the works of Turkmen applied and decorative arts and museum collections was arranged at the Central State Museum of Kazakhstan on April 30. The members of the Turkmen delegation held meetings with their Kazakh counterparts, and poets and writers of the two fraternal peoples held a roundtable meeting at the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan during the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan.

The finale of the closing ceremony of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan was a joint concert of arts and cultural workers from the two friendly countries in the concert hall of the Kazakhkoncert State Association in Almaty.

The centuries-old traditions of good neighbourliness, historical and spiritual affinities are an essential factor of Turkmen-Kazakh cooperation that contributes to bringing the two peoples closer together and strengthening a mutual understanding and confidence. This is vividly evidenced by the cordial welcome and hospitality extended in Astana to the delegation of Turkmenistan.

The members of the Turkmen delegation laid flowers at the Monument of Independence and visited the Central State Museum in Almaty, the sports centre and other places of interest in one of the most beautiful cities in Kazakhstan.
