Turkmen Carpet Day was widely and solemnly celebrated throughout the country on May 25. Meetings, art exhibitions and contests, concerts and theatrical performances were held in towns and villages to mark the remarkable date.
The Turkmen Carpet Day festivities centered in the white-marble beautiful capital of our country that was celebrating another remarkable date in the national calendar – Ashgabat Day on that day. The festivities were attended by numerous foreign visitors who arrived in the Turkmen capital from around the world. Among them were the participants of the international exhibition “The Turkmen Carpet is the Paragon of Beauty in Our Prospering Motherland” and the delegates of the XIV Conference of the World Association of Connoisseurs of Turkmen Handmade Carpets, which had taken place in the conference hall of Turkmenhaly State Association.
The Association unites experts in various fields of science, who are true enthusiasts. It was noted at the forum that Turkmen art had gone beyond the borders of the country through being embodied in new pieces of art and using advanced technologies and innovations. This is vividly evidenced by the wonderful carpets that specialists from Afghanistan and Iran had brought in Ashgabat to present at the exhibition at the National Turkmen Carpet Museum.
