In honour of the 215th birthday anniversary of the great Russian poet A.S. Pushkin there was held a solemn ceremony of flower laying at the Pushkin square of the Turkmen capital to his memory. Representatives of the embassy of the Russian federation, schoolchildren of the joint Turkmen –Russian secondary school named after A.S. Pushkin, representatives of social organizations of Turkmenistan, residents of the city, fans and devoted people of his genius have come to pay their respect to the outstanding master of poetry. At the monument poems of the poet were read. Schoolchildren performed their literary compositions.


Russian culture is closely connected with the name of Pushkin. And his birthday has become day of Russian language, holiday of Russian poetry. Plays staged on the basis of works of A.S. Pushkin entered repertoires of famous world theatres. The state Russian drama theatre named after A.S. Pushkin of Turkmenistan also plays them. It harmoniously combines the best traditions of national and world art. Today on the stage of the theatre one can see “Small tragedies” of Pushkin and his “tale of the king sultan”.
