The specialized courses on the International investment arbitration were launched in Turkmenistan; they were organized on initiative of the Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan together with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country.
The courses are held for the young lecturers on law, students of the fourth and fifth year, studying on legal studies in the Turkmen State University named after Makhtumkuli, the Institute of International Relations of the MFA of Turkmenistan and International University of Humanities and Development of Turkmenistan. The specialized courses bring together the students in the Makhtumkuli TSU.
The specialists of the Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan, arbitrators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, assigned from Turkmenistan, international lawyers, representatives of the local legal companies, profession-oriented professors and lecturers of the higher educational institutions serve as the teachers of the training course. The language of study is Turkmen and English.
The participants’ attention is drawn to the deep study of the international arbitrage doctrine, international and national legal basis. The topic of lectures is focused on the best practices of the international arbitrage disputes, and the legal and theoretical foundations of the international investment arbitration. The curriculum includes the study of jurisdiction, arbitration proceeding stages, rules of arbitration court formation, principles of cases financing and evidence gathering, arrangement of sessions of the court.
Among the primary targets of studying are the improvement of the young lawyer’s knowledge, their advanced training, enhancement of national legal basis. The courses for the beginners and future lawyers will last till May next year.
Let us recall, the information about the organization of special courses on the international investment arbitration for young lawyers was announced in the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of our country, which was held on 15 October, 2021. In the course of the meeting the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the great importance attached to the training of the young high qualified specialists in all fields, in particular, in legal studies, as well as the necessity to continue work in this area. The head of the state stated, that the high level of training of the young lawyers, their deepen knowledge the international law to a great extent will promote the settlement of disputes, arising with the foreign investors, in favour of the state.
