The Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A.Nyyazov regularly organizes open scientific meetings with the participation of a wide range of specialized specialists, designed to contribute to the improvement and development of domestic agricultural production.

One of such recent meetings was devoted to the Research and Production Center for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, a subordinate structure of the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A.Nyyazov. In particular, on the agenda of the scientific meeting, the results of the research activities of the laboratory “Epizootology” of this center, aimed at the development, production and implementation of veterinary biological products for the prevention and diagnosis of infectious diseases of farm animals, were discussed.

The event was attended by scientists of the center, research institutes, teachers and students of the organizing university and other universities, livestock entrepreneurs, specialists from enterprises for processing livestock products and other guests interested in the topic of the meeting. The audience was presented with a presentation of biological preparations for the prevention of infectious diseases and the improvement of animals, prepared by scientists from the Research and Production Center for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. It was about a number of preparations created, introduced into production and current developments of vaccines.

The presentations described in detail six biological preparations for the prevention, diagnosis and elimination of animal brucellosis, obtained in the laboratory of the center and successfully used in animal husbandry. It was noted that vaccines for immunization of sheep, goats, camels, cattle against brucellosis, as well as antigens for diagnosing the disease of domestic production, fully comply with all international standards and are in no way inferior to foreign counterparts in their quality. In addition, the use of local biological products can significantly reduce costs for agricultural producers, and also contributes to the timely provision of livestock farms with veterinary products in the required volumes. Together with all the pluses, experts emphasized the importance of the topic in the framework of solving the state task of import substitution. Currently, at the request of the State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, livestock farms of the country are provided with these biological products. During the meeting, the specialists of the center spoke about the work to improve the technology of manufacturing biological products, carried out in order to increase the range and improve the quality of medicines. As a result of these studies, the scientists of the “Epizootology” laboratory obtained and offered for production two more biological preparations for diagnosing a particularly dangerous infectious disease - anthrax.

The preparations have successfully passed quality control, compliance with standards and approved by the Main State Service “Turkmenstandartlary”. At this stage, under the guidance of scientists in the laboratory, a capsuleless spore vaccine against animal anthrax is being developed and tested.

As part of the presentation, representatives of the center informed the audience about their plans for the future - scientists from the veterinary department are planning to develop several more biological products and a number of other medicines that are in demand for veterinary practice and a number of other medicines to protect animals from infectious and parasitic diseases based on local raw materials.

Summing up the meeting, the speakers noted the importance and significance of the research work of the epizootic laboratory for the development of veterinary biological products that allow for accurate and timely diagnosis, prevention of the spread of infectious animal diseases, which, in turn, guarantees the provision of the population with safe meat and dairy products and the protection of the health of our citizens.

And in conclusion, they added that another important part of the activity of the Research and Production Center for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the TSAU named after S.A.Nyyazov is the active involvement of university students in the work being done. Representatives of the center with great enthusiasm act as teachers and mentors for young people, contributing to the training of future high-level specialists for the further successful development of the sectors of the national economy.
