The Embassy of Japan in our country informs that on June 12 this year, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan will hold an exam for applicants for postgraduate studies at Japanese universities as research students under the Japanese Government Scholarship Program (MEXT) for 2023.

Persons born after April 2, 1988 and graduating from a university (including graduates of the current academic year) can participate in the program. The program includes a course of necessary language training within 6 months after arrival in Japan and further study in graduate school in the chosen specialty. According to the main provision, this program lasts 2 years, but if a graduate student enters an educational institution of a higher level during this period in order to obtain an academic degree, this period may be extended.

Recruitment for those arriving in Japan in April 2023 or September/October 2023 will take place between April and May of the previous year. In Turkmenistan, documents for participation in the MEXT scholarship program were accepted at the Embassy of Japan until May 31, 2022. The first screening is carried out between May and July by Japanese embassies or general consulates.
