Première of performance “Uncommon love” shown on the stage of the Main Drama Theatre of Turkmenistan had not only the “sold out” notice, but also the interest of the audience. Excited viewers kept long the actors on the stage with applauses, expressing highly their gratitude for bright uncommon staging.
Play of well-known dramatist Alexander Volodin “Lizard” was the basis of the performance. Its scene takes place in prehistoric times, when humanity made only first steps towards a civilization. Parable about wonderful love, which was capable to conquer a discord and announce concord and mutual understanding, is on its basis.
Production director – the People’s Artist of Turkmenistan Kakajan Ashirov offered original interpretation of dramaturgic production. Having filled a texture of the play with modern moral and philosophic content, he brought it closer to the current problems of humanity, having tried to give answer to major questions: how to keep the world from confrontations and wars, obtain justice on the Earth and regard a love as of paramount importance in relations between people, having attached a peacemaking role to it.
Production director the People’s Artist of Turkmenistan Kakajan Ashirov says: “This parable excited me since I was a student. Under its impression, I wrote my version of a play. In 1986, at all-USSR Festival Theatre in Tbilisi, Alexander Volodin first saw the performance “Lizard” played by group of actors from Ashgabat Youth Theatre. As a sign of approval, the dramatist sent a letter with gratitude for successful staging of his production.”
Over a quarter of a century later, the viewers saw new staging of this performance. In play of actors, it was possible to sense such harmony as if performance has never retired from the stage during all these years.
It is particularly worth mentioning the work of production designer Maksat Amangylyjov. Numerous liana-ribbons, hanging down from somewhere above, was only theatre set design, but how expressively it supplements the dramatic concept of events, taking place on the stage. In the time of bloody battles, the ribbons start a violent motion as if the nature itself mutinies against war on the Earth. In the scenes of peaceful life, many-coloured patches of sunlight flicker on these ribbons, intensifying the atmosphere of happiness of human being.
Plot of the performance “becomes twisted” on the fact how a guy and girl from quarreling clans, who fell in love with each other, were found in the epicenter of cruel fight of evil and good. It was their love, which conquered the enmity, and peace was established between these tribes fastened by two loving hearts.
Selection of performers of the leading parts was great success of stage direction. In the first play, they were performed by young, very prospective actors – Jeren Khalliyeva and Bahtiyar Abayev. Their play was very sincere and easy. Plastique of motions and gestures of Jeren really reminded brisk and graceful lizard.
Play has turned out uncommonly beautiful. Sometimes, it reminded a wide-frame black-and-white film and sometimes - stylized ballet. But owing to excellent taste of creators, sense of proportion was traced all along the line.
Taking a pleasure from positive perception of the play by viewer, Kakajan Ashirov said: “I would give “excellent” mark not only to actors, but everybody, who took part in creation of the play, including costume designers, illumination designers, choreographer and of course, production designer.”
Spectators, in turn, gave highest mark to the production director and of course, all performers of the play by their keen response to the première.
