Preparing for Theatre Week «Permanent Neutrality is the Foundation of Friendship and Brotherhood»

Events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, recognised by the international community and the core of its peace-loving and humane policy, are gaining in scope and depth. This demonstrates to the entire world the important role of the legal status of neutrality of our sovereign Fatherland, three times recognised by the UN, in further strengthening peace not only in the region but throughout the world, mutually beneficial cooperation between peoples and states, and close fraternal relations.

Along with all spheres, the cultural and artistic professionals of the country are also preparing worthy gifts for this glorious anniversary. One example is the Week of performances entitled «Permanent Neutrality - the foundation of friendship and brotherhood», which will take place in theatres across the country from the 6th to 12th of December and will be timed to coincide with this significant date. The performances are based on famous works by classics of world literature and drama.

Over the course of seven days, each theatre in the country will present six to seven stage productions. During the Week, our compatriots will have the opportunity to experience stage productions that have won the hearts of theatre fans, as well as works by writers from 16 fraternal nations, and connect with their spiritual world. This will create harmony between the principles of our country's permanent neutrality and the works created by masters of the stage. Despite differences in languages, some traditions, and customs, there are universal values important to all humanity: unity, peace, friendship and brotherhood, goodwill, as well as family, high morality, and honesty.

Preparatory work for the Week of famous stage works by writers from fraternal nations is currently underway at the Lebap State musical and drama theatre named after Seyitnazar Seydi. These works promote these humane principles, which are the key to a secure future for humanity. It has become a tradition at this theatre to prepare a new stage production for each holiday.

During the Week, audiences will be treated to «Mother-in-Law» by Azerbaijani playwright Nazim Musazade, a play about family life; «Iron Woman» by Uzbek playwright Sharaf Bashbekov, a stage production based on the story «White Steamship» by Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov; as well as «The Proposal» by Russian writer and playwright Anton Chekhov; «The younger daughter-in-law» by Uzbek writer Nurullo Abboshon; and «Four suitors for Dilyafruz» by Tatar playwright Tufan Minnullin.

The hard work already being put forth by the stage masters of the Lebap State musical and drama theatre named after Seyitnazar Seydi is worth noting, ensuring that all performances staged on the stage, which harmonize the message of permanent neutrality of the Turkmenistan with the high spirit of the holiday, are enjoyed by audiences.
