On the occasion of Russia’s National Unity Day, which is celebrated annually on November 4, the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Ashgabat organized a colorful event at the Arkach Shopping and Entertainment Center.

A lively fair unfolded on the ground floor, where guests could listen to Russian chastushki, try on a kokoshnik, and join in the dancing. The hosts actively engaged children and their parents, inviting them to take part in games, contests, and quizzes.
Creatively inclined visitors could paint a matryoshka doll and assemble a panel depicting the various peoples living across Russia. In addition, the fair featured a wide exhibition of Turkmen artisans. The tables displayed items of decorative and applied arts — paintings of Akhal-Teke horses and Alabay dogs, traditional embroidery, pottery, and toys.
The National Unity Day is a public holiday of the Russian Federation that symbolizes the unbreakable unity of Russia’s multinational people. This year’s celebration is held under the theme “Russia — the Family of Families.”
To test how well people know the nations that inhabit Russia, “Great Ethnographic Dictation” campaign is being held from November 1 to 8 across all regions of the Russian Federation and abroad.

The Russian House in Ashgabat also invites everyone to take part in the Great Ethnographic Dictation, dedicated to the diversity of Russia’s peoples and their unique cultural heritage. The intellectual test, consisting of 30 questions, will allow participants to learn more about traditions and history.
Participation is open to everyone. To register, applicants should send their full name and age to the email address: otdel_tm@mail.ru, and indicate the event title “Great Ethnographic Dictation-2025” in the subject line.
The educational event will take place on November 5 at 17:00 at the Russian House, located at 11 Saparmyrat Turkmenbashi Avenue.
