The 10th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tatarstan working group on trade-economic, scientific-technical, and cultural cooperation opened today at the «Ýyldyz» hotel in the capital. A representative delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister and minister of industry and trade of the Republic of Tatarstan O. Korobchenko, arrived in our country to participate.

It should be noted that relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation are characterised by a strategic partnership based on deep historical, cultural, and linguistic ties. This dialogue is actively supported at the highest level and implemented through an effective mechanism – the Joint Turkmen-Tatarstan working group.

The agenda of the next meeting includes consideration of issues related to the practical implementation of previously reached agreements, as well as promising areas of fruitful cooperation.

Opening the meeting, the co-chairs noted with satisfaction the high level of bilateral relations, built on the principles of mutual trust and benefit. They also noted a mutual commitment to maximising the existing significant potential for implementing joint projects.
Speaking about the opportunities for expanding cooperation in priority areas, the parties confirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation and specified promising areas, in particular trade-economics, oil and gas, energy, and industry.

Particular emphasis was placed on such areas as transport, communications and information technology, textile industry, agriculture and environmental protection, science, education, healthcare, the pharmaceutical industry, culture, sports and youth policy.
It was emphasised that the favourable investment climate established in Turkmenistan and growing reputation of our country as a reliable partner in the international arena play a major role in the progressive development of mutually beneficial trade-economic cooperation.
The high level of trust and mutual understanding inherent in Turkmen-Tatarstan relations provides a solid foundation for the constructive development of bilateral dialogue in various fields.
An example of this is the mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and the largest companies in Tatarstan – OJSC «KAMAZ» and «Tatneft», «KER-Holding», the Kazan Helicopter Plant, and others.
Regular high-level meetings and contacts are key factors in ensuring systemic and effective bilateral cooperation. In this context, the visit of the head of the Republic of Tatarstan RF to Turkmenistan this year is noteworthy, during which he met with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Hero-Arkadag.
Commitment of Turkmenistan to expanding its multilateral cooperation with foreign partners is also confirmed by the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov as an honorary guest at the 16th BRICS Summit in the «BRICS Plus»/»Outreach» format, which took place in October 2024. The capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, was the venue for this high-level meeting.
Furthermore, the working visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation to participate in the XVI International Economic Forum «Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2025» gave new impetus to the development of Turkmen-Tatarstan relations.
As noted, the fundamental transformations being implemented today, the course taken toward accelerated diversification and digitalisation of the national economy, coupled with rich natural resources and the existing enormous economic and export potential, open up significant opportunities for expanding the range of interactions between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan.
It was emphasised that the implementation of joint projects in various areas will have practical significance for both sides.
The next meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tatarstan working group on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation will continue its work tomorrow.
