The football team of «Ahal» defeated «Shagadam» of Turkmenbashy 1-0 in the postponed match of the 19th round of the Turkmenistan Premier League.

The game took place in Turkmenbashy.

Both teams are vying for medals in the current national championship: «Ahal» is aiming for silver, while «Shagadam» is desperately fighting for bronze.

The teams have already met three times this season – twice in the championship and once in the semifinals of the Turkmenistan Cup. «Ahal» won 2-1 in the first round at «Shagadam», while the second round ended in a 1-1 draw.

These teams recently met in «Turkmenbashy», but this time in the first semifinal match of the 2025 Turkmenistan Cup. «Shagadam» won that match 2-1.

The current match was also closely contested. Both teams failed to score in the first half. In the second half, the outcome of the match was decided by the only goal scored by «Ahal» captain Elman Tagayev in the 52nd minute.

After this victory, «Ahal» moved up to second place in the standings with 43 points, two points ahead of next-place «Altyn Asyr». «Shagadam» remained in fourth place with 40 points, despite having played two matches fewer.

As a reminder, «Arkadag» became the champion of Turkmenistan for the third time ahead of schedule.
