«Ahal» secured an important victory in the fight for silver medals in the Turkmenistan football championship, defeating «Shagadam» of Turkmenbashy 1-0 in the final match of the 26th round.
The game took place at the «Nisa» stadium of the capital.
Both teams are fighting for medals in the current national championship: «Ahal» is aiming for silver, while «Shagadam» is desperately fighting for bronze.
The rivals have played each other twice in the last 10 days. On the 21st of November, in the first semi-final match of the 2025 Turkmenistan Cup, «Shagadam» won 2-1 at home. Five days later, in a rescheduled match of the 19th round of the Turkmenistan championship, «Ahal» took revenge away with a score of 1-0.
This time, the match was a close one, too. Its fate was decided at the end of regulation time, thanks to the only goal scored by the Gurban Annayev of the home team in the 84th minute.
Following this victory, «Ahal», with 46 points, climbed to second place in the standings, two points ahead of next-place «Altyn asyr». «Shagadam», with 40 points, remained in fourth place, despite having played two more matches, leaving them with a slim chance of bronze.
Let us remind that «Arkadag» became the champion of Turkmenistan in football for the third time ahead of schedule.
