Central Asia demonstrates significant progress in strengthening regional stability

Central Asia has recently achieved substantial progress in strengthening regional stability. This was stated on December 5 in Ashgabat by the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Turkmenistan, Azizbek Madmarov, at a briefing dedicated to Kyrgyzstan’s candidacy for non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council.

The diplomat emphasized that the region has achieved significant success, particularly in resolving border issues between Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. This demonstrates the commitment of Central Asian countries to peaceful and constructive approaches to dispute resolution, to building trust, and to developing sustainable cooperation based on mutual respect.

The Ambassador also noted that expanding the participation of developing countries, including states in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, in the UN Security Council’s peacekeeping activities would make the decision-making process more inclusive and reflective of the interests of the entire international community.

The head of the diplomatic mission stressed that the countries of Central Asia consistently adhere to the principles of peace, stability, and respect for international law. They have proven themselves to be responsible members of the international community, actively engaged in UN initiatives.

In this context, the briefing highlighted the important and integral role of Turkmenistan.

The country’s initiatives in developing energy and transport corridors, environmental diplomacy, and water resource management make a significant contribution to strengthening trust, stability, and sustainable development in the region. Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent positive neutrality has proven effective as a tool for reinforcing peace and security, demonstrating that the path to a just peace lies solely through dialogue and trust.
