The international seminar «High-level dialogue on global health diplomacy», which opened at the «Ýyldyz» hotel, marked an important milestone in the implementation of the country's foreign policy. The event once again reaffirmed the commitment of Turkmenistan to the principles of positive neutrality and humanism, creating a platform for consolidating the efforts of the global community.
The participants of the dialogue paid special attention to the speech of the representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO) to the European Union, director of the AHEAD program Oksana Domenti. During a break between sessions, in a conversation with a «GA» correspondent, O. Domenti praised role of Turkmenistan as a strategic partner of the WHO.
According to the expert, Turkmenistan today is not just a participant, but an active «actor» in global processes.
«We highly value role of Turkmenistan in advancing medical diplomacy objectives. The country consistently uses diplomatic tools to achieve tangible results at both the regional and global levels», − O. Domenti emphasised.

The WHO representative reminded the key achievements of the country, which have become part of the global agenda. Among them:
The Ashgabat declaration − document that resulted from a series of international conferences organised in Turkmenistan, laying the foundation for an effective fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs) worldwide;
Initiatives at the UN – where the special role of the country in promoting the resolution to proclaim International bicycle day was noted, which directly contributes to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
O. Domenti also highlighted the importance of current chairmanship of Turkmenistan of the CIS. According to her, the example of the country proves that the scale of resources of a state is not a determining factor if there is a clear strategy and a will to cooperate.
«Turkmenistan, along with 53 other countries in the WHO European region, participated in the development of five key priorities of the organisation. We look forward to continued active participation of Ashgabat in addressing non-communicable disease issues and advancing the environmental agenda», − the WHO representative noted.
The expert called the current «High-level dialogue» in Ashgabat an invaluable contribution to the development of global medicine, expressing confidence that the results of seminar will form the basis for new joint projects under the auspices of the WHO.
