Turkmenistan plans to undertake a large-scale modernisation of one of the key transport arteries of the country. During a regular Cabinet meeting held digitally, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved a proposal to hold an international tender for the construction of a modern highway linking the capital with northern region of the country, Dashoguz velayat.
According to report of deputy-prime B. Annamamedov, the project aims to fundamentally update the road transport network. It includes a complete reconstruction of the Ashgabat-Dashoguz highway and the construction of new bridges along the entire highway in accordance with international standards of quality and road safety.
The comprehensive modernisation of the highway will improve the efficiency of transit freight and passenger transportation, fostering stronger international cooperation in the transport sphere, and ensuring high-quality connections between the velayats and the capital.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised that the Ashgabat-Dashoguz highway is one of the main roads of the country and instructed the deputy-prime to carry out the necessary work.
