Already today, cotton gins of the production association «Dashoguzpagta» are preparing seeds of medium-fibre cotton varieties for the upcoming sowing.

This year, for the first time, several varieties of valuable crops new to the region will be used as seed material. Among them is the «Dashoguz-150» cotton variety. It was bred by the head of the velayat department of cotton selection and seed production of the cotton research institute of the Ministry of agriculture of Turkmenistan, C. Seyitmyradov.

The new product meets all the key requirements for the crop, has increased disease resistance, high fibre yield and strength, and other properties. Among the first varieties being prepared for mass sowing in the region is the medium-fibre cotton variety «Jeyhun-16», which has shown good results in testing.

To date, cotton ginning plants, under strict quality control, have produced over 12 thousand tons of cotton seeds that meet the requirements and soil and climatic conditions. It should be noted that in the velayat, both pubescent and naked cotton seeds are prepared for sowing every year. The naked seeds are mainly prepared using the most modern technology at a seed cotton processing plant located in the Koneurgench etrap with a capacity of 40 thousand tons of products per year and a cotton receiving terminal for the simultaneous storage of 10 thousand tons of raw cotton.
