On 23 February 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Albert Ranganai Chimbindi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe, who arrived in Ashgabat at the head of a delegation to participate in political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Zimbabwe. During the talks, the parties noted the progressive development of Turkmen-Zimbabwean relations and expressed interest in further strengthening political-diplomatic dialogue. The importance of consultations between the foreign ministries as an effective mechanism for coordinating bilateral cooperation was emphasized.

The sides discussed priority areas of cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, reaffirming their mutual support for initiatives aimed at strengthening peace, security, and sustainable development.

The diplomats also exchanged views on prospects for expanding trade-economic cooperation, including the organization of joint business events. Issues related to the expansion of cultural-humanitarian ties were also considered.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their commitment to further strengthening friendly and mutually beneficial relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Zimbabwe.
