A methodological and practical seminar entitled «The foundation of science and education in the epoch of independence» was held in the Gyzylarbat etrap of the Balkan velayat with the participation of school librarians.
The event, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan, was organised to enhance the professional skills of library system employees, improve approaches to its development, and address the challenges of modernising science and education.
During the seminar, librarians shared best practices and discussed issues related to library digitalisation, collection management, and the preparation of bibliographic reviews.
Particular attention was paid to the task of increasing interest in reading among students and the role of school libraries, which are designed to be modern cultural and educational centres for interesting, useful and effective leisure time for young people.
Meeting participants received practical recommendations from experienced specialists on developing digital services, updating approaches to organising library work, expanding readership, holding thematic events, and sharing professional experiences.
As part of the seminar, an exhibition and competition entitled «35 years of development» was organised, at which school librarians widely presented their professional achievements.
Based on the results of the competition, the Grand-prix was awarded to librarian of secondary school №20 Aynabat Alashova. The prize winners were representatives of schools №17, №27 and №21.
The event became an effective platform for improving the qualifications of librarians, evaluating their performance, sharing best practices, studying modern methods for organising the productive work of libraries, and expanding their capabilities.
