The President of Turkmenistan pardoned 336 citizens in honour of the sacred Night of omnipotence

During a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, held digitally, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree pardoning convicted persons in honour of the sacred Gadyr gijesi (Night of Omnipotence).

Opening the meeting, the head of state emphasised that pardons are traditionally granted to those who have sincerely repented of their actions and are ready to start life anew. According to the signed document, 336 citizens of the country were released from further serving their sentences.

The Decree of the President of Turkmenistan states that the decision was made based on the principles of mercy and humanism of great ancestors, the goals of strengthening the unity of Turkmen society, and concern for the well-being of each family.

Secretary of the State Security Council, Chairman of the relevant Commission B. Gundogdyyev reported on the results of the relevant work carried out. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed to ensure the release of the convicts from prison as soon as possible and organise their return home to their families.

At the same time, the head of state wished those pardoned to become worthy citizens, to work with inspiration for the good of the Motherland and to live by the fruits of honest labour.
