Participants of the Turkmenistan–European Union Business Forum, “New Horizons for Connectivity, Investment, and Sustainable Growth,” held on March 26 in Ashgabat, paid particular attention to the transformation of international transport corridors. In her address, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Turkmenistan, Beata Peksa, emphasized the strategic importance of the region in the current geopolitical environment.
“In the context of evolving global trade routes, Turkmenistan’s role is increasing significantly. The country is becoming one of the key links in the chain between Europe and Asia,” stated the Ambassador.
The European Union reaffirmed its intention not only to expand trade but also to support structural modernization. A key instrument in this effort is the OECD project aimed at creating a competitive investment environment, the diplomat noted.
In this regard, the main priorities for cooperation were outlined. These include simplifying procedures, optimizing business processes, improving the regulatory framework, investing in modern technologies as a driver of efficiency, developing professional competencies suited to new economic realities, and promoting foreign direct investment.
Beata Peksa also stressed that the forum is not merely a meeting platform. According to her, it is a “platform for action,” designed to initiate concrete investment projects that will bring economic benefits not only to Turkmenistan and the EU but also to neighboring regions.
In this context, on behalf of the European Union, the head of the diplomatic mission expressed readiness for long-term partnership aimed at jointly building a sustainable and prosperous future through support for the private sector and the introduction of advanced international practices.
