Ashgabat hosted the VI International student review of mathematics OMOUS-2026

From 24th to 28th of March, a major international event, the VI Open mathematical Olympiad for university students (OMOUS-2026), was held at the International University for humanities and development.

More than 600 talented mathematics experts from universities in Turkmenistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran, the UAE, Germany, Greece, Hungary, and the Netherlands competed in a highly competitive environment at the Olympiad.

As a result of the competition, 338 students who competed in categories A and B won medals of varying denominations in the individual standings. A total of 34 medals were won in team competitions.

Turkmen students achieved excellent results in the competition, winning 198 medals in two categories: 33 gold, 69 silver, and 96 bronze. Another 13 medals: 2 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze - were won by the Turkmen youth in the team competition.

Participants from Uzbekistan took a worthy place on the podium, winning 103 medals in the individual competition and 10 medals in the team tournament.

The successful performance of the students from Russia brought them 30 medals in the individual competition, including 14 gold, as well as 7 medals in the team format of the Olympiad.

Students from Greece, the Netherlands, Germany and Hungary also distinguished themselves in the competition, winning one gold medal each in the individual category B. 1 gold in the individual category A and 1 bronze for participation in the team competition went to Tajik students.

At the awards and closing ceremony of the Olympiad, the winners and runners-up were solemnly presented with well-deserved medals and diplomas.

As was emphasised during the ceremony, the participants confidently and honourably demonstrated a high level of preparation in the subject, brilliant knowledge, and the ability to solve complex mathematical problems.

The students and their teachers expressed their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the organisers for the high-level event, the opportunity to participate and enjoy fruitful meetings with colleagues and friends from around the world, as well as the warm and welcoming welcome in the Turkmen capital and unforgettable excursions around Ashgabat.

The annual mathematical Olympiad became a vibrant and memorable event for all its participants. The event once again demonstrated the openness and hospitality of the Turkmen people and confirmed commitment of our country to trusting and peaceful dialogue, the ongoing development of international humanitarian cooperation, and friendly relations between countries and peoples.
