Ashgabat Hosts the 3rd International Mathematical Olympiad for School Students

Ashgabat is hosting the 3rd International Mathematical Olympiad for School Students, the opening ceremony of which took place on April 9 at Magtymguly Turkmen State University.

The Olympiad, held annually under the auspices of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, has brought together young talented mathematicians from both Turkmenistan and abroad.

This year, around 200 participants from 11 countries are taking part in the large-scale international competition, including representatives from Turkmenistan, Russia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, China, Belarus, Turkiye, Iran, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan. The delegations also include teachers, team leaders, and accompanying persons.

The reception of guests in the capital traditionally reflected the hospitality and warmth characteristic of the Turkmen people. The opening and organization of the Olympiad have been ensured at a high level in accordance with international standards.

The competition is held in an individual format in a single round across two levels of difficulty: Categories A and B.

Category A is intended for participants under the age of 20—school students and recent graduates who completed secondary education less than one year ago and are not enrolled in higher education institutions at the time of the Olympiad. Category B includes secondary school students under the age of 15.5.

The intellectual contests are being held at Specialized Secondary School No. 135 in Ashgabat, with advanced study of the English language. The official working languages of the competition are Turkmen, Russian, and English.

A rich cultural program has been prepared for the delegations. On the first day, participants visited the landmarks of white-marble Ashgabat, including the Neutrality Monument and the Neutrality Museum.

The 3rd International Mathematical Olympiad for School Students will run until April 13.
