Today, the State Institute of Energy of Turkmenistan (SIET) hosted the award ceremony for the winners of the "Startups in the Field of Renewable Energy Sources" competition. The event was co-organized by SIET and the "European Union for a Green Turkmenistan: Policy Dialogue and Climate Action 2024-2029" project, which is co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Foreign Office and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
In line with the national motto of Turkmenistan for the year 2026 “Independent permanently neutral Turkmenistan − the homeland of purposeful heavenly horses”, the competition aimed to support youth initiatives in the green transition. The final stage featured 53 outstanding projects selected from across the country, representing the work of students and young professionals aged 18 to 30.

Participants presented their solutions across three core pillars:
– Solar and Wind Energy: Innovative applications for solar panels, collectors, and wind turbines.
– Biomass and Bioenergy: Projects focusing on biogas production and energy recovery from organic waste.
– Energy Efficiency and Digital Solutions: Intelligent systems and digital technologies designed for efficient energy consumption.

Mr. Abdyrahman Muratdurdyyev, representative of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, emphasized the significance of the initiative for the country's energy sector:
"The introduction of innovative technologies and the development of renewable energy sources are key priorities of Turkmenistan's energy strategy. This competition not only unlocks the creative potential of our youth but also facilitates the search for practical solutions to improve energy efficiency and strengthen the environmental security of our state. We see the participants as future specialists who will make a tangible contribution to the technological modernization of the industry."
The nine winners - the top three projects in each category - were identified by the jury. The first-place winners in each nomination were awarded a study trip to Germany to explore international best practices in renewable energy. Other finalists honored with certificates of recognition and commemorative prizes in recognition of their innovative contributions and dedication to sustainable energy.

The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. This initiative contributes to the development of a green economy and supports Turkmenistan’s national strategies for climate action and renewable energy development.
