The main national futsal tournament of 2026—the Turkmenistan Super League—kicked off in Turkmenabat with two matches.

Eight teams are competing for the championship title. Three of them—“Kopetdag”, “Senagatbank”, and “Migration”—represent Ashgabat; two—“Denizchi” and TCOR from Turkmenbashi—represent the Balkan velayat; and three more—“Farap”, “Gumrukchi”, and “Nesil”—represent the Lebap velayat.

At the preliminary stage, the teams are divided into two groups. Group A includes “Kopetdag”, “Farap”, “Senagatbank”, and “Gumrukchi”, while Group B consists of “Denizchi”, “Nesil”, “Migration”, and TCOR.

According to the tournament regulations, at the first stage teams will play in their groups in a double round-robin format. Matches at this stage will be held in the Lebap and Mary velayats. Based on the results of the preliminary stage, the top two teams from each group will advance directly to the final round. The remaining teams will compete in an additional tournament for 5th–6th places, which will also allow them to join the final stage participants.

Thus, the final round will take place in the autumn with six teams competing in a quadruple round-robin format, which will determine the 2026 Turkmenistan futsal champion.

On the opening day, Group B teams took to the court at Sports School No. 10 of the Main Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Lebap velayat.

In the opening match of the 2026 Turkmenistan Super League, last year’s silver medalist “Denizchi” secured a convincing 7–1 victory over “Nesil”, while TCOR defeated “Migration” 7–5.

The next matches will be held in Group A. First, “Kopetdag” will face “Farap”, followed by a match between “Senagatbank” and “Gumrukchi”.

It is worth recalling that, following last year’s championship, “Kopetdag” became the Turkmenistan futsal champion for the fifth time, including four consecutive titles in the Super League. Silver medals went to “Denizchi”, while bronze medals were awarded to “Ahal”, which is not participating in this year’s Super League.

The best futsal player of 2025 was recognized as “Kopetdag” forward Gurbangeldi Sakhedov, while his teammate Mulkaman Annagulyev became the top scorer.

The best coach was named Akhmet Kervenov of “Ahal”, and the best goalkeeper was Rehimberdi Halmammedov of “Denizchi”.

The best referee of last season was Mekan Toyliyev, and the Fair Play award went to TCOR.
