Spring Season: Fields of the Balkan Velayat Are Bustling with Activity

Among the priority areas of Turkmenistan’s state policy are the development of the agro-industrial complex, increasing agricultural production, and strengthening food abundance. Rural workers are making every effort to successfully accomplish the important tasks set before them.

As in all regions of the country, daikhans of the Balkan velayat are carrying out large-scale work in the year titled “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses.” In this significant year, their main goal is to cultivate a rich harvest not only of cotton and wheat, but also of other agricultural crops. Overall, it is planned to grow potatoes on 2,900 hectares across the velayat and harvest 40,600 tons. Of this, spring potatoes have been planted on 1,600 hectares, from which 22,400 tons are expected to be harvested this season.

It should be noted that tenant farmers in the western region of the country plan to increase the yield of onions, planted on 1,100 hectares, to 27,500 tons. During the spring season, the sowing of cabbage and carrots was completed within optimal agrotechnical timeframes. At present, full-scale care of these crops is underway. The high quality of the work being carried out indicates that a solid foundation has been laid for a rich harvest.

In the upcoming harvest period, the total volume of cabbage grown on 230 hectares will exceed 5,750 tons. From carrots planted on 470 hectares, the hardworking farmers of the velayat aim to harvest more than 8,460 tons.

These days, crop maintenance work is becoming increasingly active, with agricultural producers striving to make the most effective use of favorable weather conditions. This will enable them, in the year “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses,” marked by the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence, to abundantly and reliably supply the region’s population with agricultural products grown on the fertile Turkmen land.
