The 82nd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) has commenced at the United Nations Conference Centre, which serves as the headquarters of ESCAP. The international forum, held in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand, is being conducted under the theme "Leave No One Behind: Advancing a Society for All Ages in the Asia and the Pacific " and will continue until April 24. The Turkmen delegation, headed by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Perhat Yagshiyev, is participating in the 82nd session of ESCAP.

Turkmenistan has been a full member of ESCAP since 1992 and actively cooperates in the fields of statistics, economic analysis, energy and transport. Turkmenistan is also the author of ESCAP resolutions aimed at developing regional cooperation in the areas of transport and ecology.

The agenda of the 82nd session of ESCAP includes issues of regional cooperation, implementation of the 2030 Agenda, and achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It will also address social development, environment, disaster risk reduction, energy, transport, macroeconomic policy, financing for development, trade, investment, entrepreneurship and business innovation, information and communication technologies, science, technology and innovation.

Within the framework of the 82nd session of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, a Ministerial Meeting of the participating States of Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) responsible for economic and social affairs is planned to be held. The session is expected to consider issues of cooperation aimed at promoting coordinated regional actions to strengthen sustainable, efficient and environmentally sound transport and logistics connectivity in the SPECA region.

Particular attention will be given to the digitalization and green transformation of transit routes, the development of e-commerce, the expansion of the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in value chains, as well as the prioritization of human capital development in the fields of transport, logistics and digital trade.
