At the exhibition being held in the capital as part of the Turkmen-Chinese Business Forum, the display of the Chinese technology giant Huawei attracted particular attention from visitors. In an interview with a correspondent of “GA”, the company’s General Representative in Turkmenistan, Yang Silong, emphasized company’s long-standing ties with the region and its constructive plans for the digital transformation of the country.
Having operated in the Turkmen market for more than 26 years, Huawei has established itself not merely as an equipment supplier, but as a strategic partner. The company representative highlighted Huawei’s unique business model. It is one of the few global corporations that provides a complete production cycle—from start to finish.
“Huawei does not depend on any third-party manufacturer for hardware or software. All of our solutions—from chipsets and data storage systems to artificial intelligence—are developed entirely by our own specialists,” Yang Silong stated.
A key milestone in this partnership was the launch of a 5G network in the smart city of Arkadag in 2025, implemented jointly with the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan. Today, the company’s development strategy is focused on expanding 4G and 5G networks across the country’s regions.
Particular importance is being placed on the introduction of VoLTE (Voice over LTE). This solution will allow users to make high-quality voice calls without interrupting data sessions, significantly enhancing the convenience of everyday mobile communication.
Speaking about the future of 5G, the General Representative noted that this technology is a critical foundation for industrial digitalization. High-speed internet is essential for the operation of intelligent transportation systems, the implementation of digital billing, and the advancement of artificial intelligence. In the transportation sector, for example, it will enable precise real-time monitoring of bus movements.
Supporting talented young people remains an important part of Huawei’s mission. In 2025, under the company’s educational program Golden Seeds, ten of the best students from Turkmen universities successfully passed a rigorous selection process and represented their country internationally in China.
“Competing in the development of advanced technologies alongside participants from other countries confirmed the high level of training of local specialists. Turkmen students demonstrated outstanding knowledge in the digital sphere, which gives us confidence in the successful future of Turkmenistan’s technology sector,” concluded Huawei’s General Representative.
