At the Turkmen-Chinese business forum held in Ashgabat, delegates focused on prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas sector. Deputy Chairman of the State concern «Turkmengas» M. Archayev delivered a keynote speech, outlining the key priorities of the agency in working with partners from the PRC.
In his speech, the state concern representative emphasised that Chinese manufacturers have already secured their status as reliable suppliers. The most striking example of effective partnership was the construction of the transnational TAPI gas pipeline.
«A prime example is the construction of the Afghan section of the TAPI gas pipeline, which involves more than 200 units of specialised construction equipment, much of which was supplied by renowned Chinese manufacturers. This experience shows that Chinese technology operates successfully under the most demanding conditions of Turkmen projects», – noted M. Archayev.

«Turkmengas» plans to expand the range of products purchased from Chinese companies. A number of positions were identified among the priority areas.
«We see further potential for cooperation in the following categories: heavy construction and earthmoving equipment, drilling equipment, drilling rigs, blowout prevention equipment, drilling tools; and tubular products, including drill and tubing pipes, large-diameter pipes for main gas pipelines, process equipment for gas treatment and processing facilities, welding and insulation materials, and spare parts for existing facilities», – said M. Archayev.
The deputy chairman of concern called on Chinese companies to more actively participate in international tenders, emphasising the openness of Turkmen side to long-term contracts.
The digital transformation of the industry was highlighted as a separate section of the presentation. Turkmenistan is interested in implementing advanced IT solutions to optimise production. In particular, attention was focused on systems for remote monitoring of wells in real time, automation of production management systems, and the creation of integrated platforms for field management.
The management of «Turkmengas» expressed its readiness to launch pilot projects based on Chinese digital developments, with subsequent replication at key gas industry facilities in the country.
These new initiatives demonstrate the commitment of Turkmenistan not only to increasing its export potential but also to modernising its domestic infrastructure in close technological collaboration with Chinese market leaders.
