Turkmenistan will present Ahal-teke horses at the Royal Windsor horse show

The delegation of Turkmenistan will take part in the Windsor international equestrian games, which will be held on the 16th to 17th of May in London (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland). Deputy prime and minister of foreign affairs R. Meredov announced this at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday.

Work is currently underway to organise, as part of these events, an exhibition dedicated to Ahal-teke horses and the traditions of Turkmen horse breeding.

The Royal Windsor horse show is a prestigious international event that has been held in the Great Britain, in the park of Windsor castle, since 1943. It is the only event in the United Kingdom that hosts international competitions in dressage, show jumping, driving, endurance and large-scale exhibitions. In total, more than 130 competition classes are represented here. The event is a significant platform for cultural exchange and demonstration of national equestrian traditions from various countries around the world. It attracts over 50 000 visitors and offers more than 170 shops selling equestrian goods and gifts.

The Windsor horse show is traditionally attended by members of the royal family, as it is famous for its rich history and high level of organisation. The late Queen Elizabeth II was its patron until her death in 2022.

At a meeting of the Government of Turkmenistan, it was noted that holding the Windsor international equestrian games and competitions in a significant year dedicated to Ahal-teke horses is of particular significance.

In this context, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised the importance of proper preparation for the upcoming working visit of the Turkmen delegation to London (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) on the occasion of the year held under the motto «Independent neutral Turkmenistan – the homeland of purposeful winged horses».
