During the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, statements were delivered by the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan, M. Silapov, and the Chairperson of the National Centre of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan, O. Berdilieva. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan.

In his statement, the Minister emphasized the relevance of the current International Labour Organization session, which is devoted to the use of artificial intelligence for ensuring decent work. He noted that the digitalization of the economy is one of the priority areas of Turkmenistan’s state policy. The country is consistently implementing programs aimed at developing the digital economy, e-government, digital education, and the introduction of modern technologies.

Turkmenistan supports a human-centered approach to the use of artificial intelligence, whereby technological progress contributes to the development of professional skills, increased labour productivity, and the strengthening of public welfare. The Minister also reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to further develop cooperation with the International Labour Organization within the framework of ongoing joint initiatives.

In turn, Chairperson of the National Centre of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan O. Berdilieva underscored the importance of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the International Labour Organization, as well as the Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV), in improving labour relations, developing social partnership, and strengthening the protection of workers’ rights.

Particular attention was paid to joint projects aimed at enhancing the qualifications of trade union personnel, promoting international labour standards, developing youth employment, ensuring gender equality, and improving occupational safety and health. It was emphasized that the trade unions of Turkmenistan regard social dialogue as an important mechanism for ensuring social stability and sustainable development, and intend to continue expanding cooperation with international partners in the interests of workers.
