On June 5, 2026, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Adil Kerimli who is visiting Turkmenistan to participate in the Days of Culture of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan. The parties discussed current issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, emphasizing the important role of culture in strengthening the traditionally fraternal ties between the peoples of the two countries. Particular attention was paid to further expanding cooperation among cultural institutions, museums, libraries, artistic groups and specialized educational organizations.
In this context, the significance of the Days of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan being held in Turkmenistan was highlighted as an important factor in bringing the peoples of the two countries even closer together. The cultural program includes screenings of feature films, lectures dedicated to Azerbaijan’s literary and artistic heritage, as well as presentations of several exhibitions. The highlight of the events will be a gala concert featuring renowned Azerbaijani artists. The Days of Culture are being held over three days in Ashgabat and Arkadag.
The sides also underscored the importance of implementing joint cultural projects and organizing exhibitions and other events aimed at promoting the rich historical and cultural heritage of both Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. The importance of intensifying contacts between representatives of the creative intelligentsia of the two countries was also noted.
An exchange of views also took place on the further development of bilateral cooperation within international organizations and cultural platforms, as well as on establishing new forms of interaction aimed at deepening Turkmen-Azerbaijani cultural and humanitarian partnership.
At the conclusion of the talks, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening bilateral relations and expressed confidence in the successful continuation of constructive dialogue for the benefit of the peoples of the two friendly states.
