Paris, Ashgabat, Tangier – collections of the Turkmen designer are presented on international catwalks

A regular participant in large-scale fashion shows both in Turkmenistan and far beyond its borders, renowned fashion designer Govher Pirkulyyeva-Guverne presented her new collection on the international catwalk of Tangier Fashion Week 2026 in Tangier, Morocco.

The event, organised by the prestigious Silk Road and Al-Andalus Association, took place in the luxurious interiors of the Fairmont Tazi Palace Tangier hotel. Against the backdrop of a diverse range of contemporary design approaches, the work of the Turkmen fashion designer has generated genuine interest among a sophisticated public.

The secret to the success of collections of Govher Pirkulyyeva-Guverne lies in the masterful ability of designer to combine authentic Turkmen national hand-embroidered keshde and ancient ornaments with the demands of the global fashion market. This is not just clothing, but a living preservation of national heritage, reinterpreted through the prism of high contemporary fashion.

Earlier, at the beginning of June, a major fashion show was held in Ashgabat as part of the International exhibition and fair «Turkmentextile Expo - 2026». At this venue, Govher Pirkulyyeva-Guverne presented the collection «In the Footsteps of the Silk Road», created especially for the event. Its creation was inspired by a trip to Marrakech and participation of the Turkmen designer in Maroc Fashion Week 2026.

– In this collection, I wanted to reflect how important it is today to travel, meet new people, build cultural connections, and be in tune with the world, – said Govher. – During the trip, I was accommodated in the residence of royal family. It was an amazing experience. We talked a lot, exchanged knowledge about the culture of our peoples and found a surprising amount in common. The hosts were genuinely pleased to introduce us to Turkmenistan. It is symbolic that there were Turkmen carpets in the palace. I proudly told the owners about the secret meanings and significance of our patterns – they listened with such delight that they even wrote down what I said.

– The Silk Road has connected different countries and civilisations since time immemorial. In this collection, I combined Turkmen motifs, Moroccan flair, exquisite French jacquard and brocade – royal fabrics that were incredibly prized even in ancient times.

It is worth noting that 2026 was a truly eventful year for the designer. Back in January, during Paris haute couture week, her brand graced the famous Oriental Fashion Show. The fashion show took place within the walls of the legendary National museum of asian arts Guimet (Musée Guimet). According to the couturier, the unique atmosphere and rich exhibits of this Parisian museum serve as an inexhaustible source of creative inspiration for her.

Turkmenistan, France, Morocco – the geography of shows of Govher Pirkulyyeva-Guverne is rapidly expanding. However, no matter where the spotlight shines on her collections, their core always remains true to their roots. By transforming ancient crafts into contemporary trends, the Turkmen designer proves that true traditions never become obsolete – they are becoming the language of international diplomacy, understood without translation on the finest catwalks of the world, from Tangier to Paris.
