On 1 July 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kenya to Turkmenistan (with residence in Tehran), Jonah Maina Mwangi. The Turkmen side congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to this responsible diplomatic post and wished him every success in his efforts to further strengthen Turkmen-Kenyan relations.
The parties discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation, noting the considerable potential for enhancing political dialogue, expanding trade and economic ties, and improving the legal framework governing bilateral cooperation.
The parties also expressed their readiness to further develop constructive cooperation within international organizations, particularly the United Nations, and to continue the practice of mutual support for each other's initiatives. In addition, the Kenyan side was invited to join the Group of Friends of Neutrality for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development, established at the initiative of Turkmenistan.
Particular attention was paid to developing cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture, transport, and the textile industry, as well as to strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, including cooperation in education, science, culture, and sports.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening the friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kenya.
