The ninth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in the capital of Turkmenistan. The meeting participants focused on strategic partnerships in the electric power and transport and logistics sectors.

Thus, one of the agenda items was cooperation in the electric power industry. As noted at the meeting, the 1,574 MW power plant currently under construction in the Turkmenbashy etrap of the Balkan velayat provides a reliable basis for discussing new areas of cooperation.

The meeting participants noted that both countries play the role of key transit hubs at the intersection of international transport corridors. The modernised infrastructure of the Turkmenbashy International Seaport and the Baku International Sea Trade Port provides optimal routes for transit cargo transportation between Asia and Europe.

Joint efforts of the countries directly contribute to the transformation of the Caspian region into an effective logistics hub, ensuring sustainable development at both the regional and global levels.
