Turkmen Specialists Improve Their Economic English Skills Through the C5+O.N.E. Program

Turkmenistan places great importance on training highly educated specialists for the sectors of the national economy and on continuously enhancing their professional qualifications. In this regard, domestic specialists regularly visit leading centers around the world and participate in relevant courses, including online programs, where they gain international experience. This contributes to the development of the country's economy and the strengthening of cooperation with interested parties.

Another confirmation of this is the participation of representatives of our country in the C5+O.N.E. (Opening Networks Through English) program, which has officially launched its seventh cohort today. The course has brought together more than 400 specialists from government institutions, the private sector, civil society, and the media from across Central Asia. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs and implemented by American Councils for International Education.

The purpose of the program is to improve English language proficiency throughout the region in order to promote closer regional integration, strengthen professional cooperation, and expand economic ties with the United States of America.

Representing all the countries of Central Asia, participants of the seventh cohort work in key sectors of the economy, including agriculture, banking and finance, information technology, entrepreneurship, and energy. As part of the English for Economics curriculum, they will improve their professional English-language skills and interact with American experts. Participants will also join an alumni network of more than 2,200 specialists who have already completed the program.

In his welcoming remarks, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Lesslie Viguerie, stated:

"English is the language of future economic growth. It is the language of global trade, information technology, science, and research. I encourage you to take full advantage of this opportunity and make English part of your future."

The course is designed to last nine months, during which participants will receive specialized English-language training and take part in professional development activities aimed at strengthening professional competencies, promoting regional cooperation, and expanding interaction with colleagues. In addition to activities held in their respective countries, participants will also take part in a regional conference that will bring together specialists and American experts to exchange ideas, establish professional connections, and explore opportunities for further cooperation.

It should be noted that the seventh cohort includes approximately 130 participants from Kazakhstan, 90 from the Kyrgyz Republic, 100 from Tajikistan, 60 from Turkmenistan, and 100 from Uzbekistan.

The launch of the seventh cohort confirms the C5+O.N.E. program's commitment to developing professional skills, strengthening regional cooperation, and expanding opportunities for the joint growth and prosperity of the United States and the countries of Central Asia.
