The Afghan side put forward an initiative to establish a joint mechanism for regular interaction between the relevant agencies of the two countries to promote the construction of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline.

This was stated by Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs, during bilateral talks with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.

The Afghan Deputy Prime Minister also expressed strong interest in studying Turkmenistan’s experience and training Afghan specialists for the gas industry at educational institutions and enterprises in Turkmenistan.
