An Ornament of the Abundant Dastarkhan

Melon growers in the Balkan velayat are striving to mark the year under the motto “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses” with high production results. This year, they have planned to harvest 52,400 tonnes of melons and other gourds from 2,600 hectares.

The hardworking growers who have cultivated a rich harvest of melons and watermelons are determined to successfully fulfill their planned production targets in order to worthily celebrate the glorious 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence. These days, the melon and watermelon harvesting campaign is in full swing in the fields. Experienced daikhans, tenants, and the teams of daikhan associations and farms in the Bereket, Gyzylarbat, Etrek and Esenguly etraps of the velayat are making a significant contribution to this important effort.

In the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, following centuries-old agricultural traditions and the “mentor–student” principle, farmers in the western region of the country are achieving high results. It should be noted that a large group of young and talented melon growers has emerged in the velayat, skillfully cultivating these heavenly gifts of nature.

While the gardeners of the subtropical etraps of Magtymguly and Etrek in the velayat are renowned for their harvests of pomegranates, figs, walnuts and olives, daikhans in other etraps of the region have accumulated extensive experience in cultivating melons and other gourds. Year after year, the masters of Balkan obtain abundant harvests of renowned melon varieties such as Vaharman, Gyzyldepe, Gulyabi and Garrygyz. Particularly noteworthy are the velayat’s achievements not only in growing high-quality melons, watermelons and fruits, but also in the subsequent processing of agricultural produce.

The active work being carried out these days by hardworking daikhans, tenants and farmers on agricultural lands along the Garagum River gives every reason to believe that the targets set will be successfully achieved. The melon growers of the velayat are making a worthy contribution to ensuring food abundance in the country, maintaining a steady supply of high-quality produce to markets and retail outlets at affordable prices. The environmentally friendly and competitive products they grow are promptly sent to retail networks for sale to consumers. These ripe gifts of the Turkmen land adorn festive tables and bring abundance to weddings and celebrations held throughout our Motherland.
