On September 17, a scientific and practical conference entitled “Independent Turkmenistan: A Country of Stability, Well-Being, Development and Prosperity,” dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence, was held in the conference hall of the Institute of History and Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
The forum was attended by researchers from the Institute of History and Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, as well as lecturers and students of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture, the Magtymguly Turkmen State University, and the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan.
As the speakers noted, alongside all sectors of the economy, the fields of science and education are also approaching the 35th anniversary of the Motherland’s independence with significant achievements. It was emphasized that the scientific study of the national cultural heritage and the preservation of historical monuments for future generations are key priorities of state policy. In Turkmenistan, all necessary opportunities have been created for the professional development of young scientists, including those specializing in archaeology and history.
As a result of joint research conducted by specialists of the Institute of History and Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, together with prominent domestic and foreign archaeologists, such world-famous historical sites as Ancient Merv, Nisa, Dehistan, Kunya-Urgench, Altyndepe, Shahrislam, and others have been discovered on the territory of our Motherland. Thanks to the work of scholars, it has been possible not only to preserve unique archaeological finds, but also to restore historical truth, proving that Turkmenistan is one of the oldest centers of human civilization. Today, Turkmen archaeologists are successfully continuing excavations and restoration work at historical sites located in various parts of the country.
During the conference, particular emphasis was placed on the principle of continuity between generations — “mentor–student” — in our independent Motherland. This tradition is of exceptional importance in the fields of archaeological and historical sciences. After all, field research, excavations, and practical restoration are complex skills that are passed directly from master to student.
The scientific and practical conference provided a vivid reflection of the results of scientific research. During the forum, representatives of the older generation shared wise guidance with us, the younger generation, in the study of history and archaeology. At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants expressed their sincere gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan, as well as to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag, for creating the conditions and opportunities necessary for preserving the national heritage.
