Ashgabat Will Provide Comprehensive Support for the Development of Investment Cooperation to Implement Joint Initiatives

The Investment Forum, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly with the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, concluded its work in the capital of Turkmenistan. The large-scale event brought together high-ranking representatives of government agencies, international financial institutions, specialized organizations, and leading foreign companies.

An important business highlight of the forum was a speech by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov, who outlined the country’s strategic priorities in attracting foreign capital, developing infrastructure, and integrating into global economic processes.

In his address to the forum participants, the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized that amid the global transformation of the energy sector, logistics, and production chains, investment is precisely the main driver of economic growth.

“In an environment where the global economy continues to adapt to structural changes in energy, logistics, and production chains, a steady inflow of investment is becoming a decisive condition for modernizing national economies, creating new jobs, and improving people’s well-being,” noted A. Gurbanov.

The diplomat also drew attention to the fact that the country is consistently implementing a set of measures to improve the investment climate. In particular, the legislative framework governing the protection of investors’ rights, tax and customs regulation, as well as public-private partnerships, is being updated.

Particular attention is being paid to expanding opportunities for foreign capital in free economic zones. As one of the key examples, A. Gurbanov cited the Avaza National Tourist Zone on the Caspian coast, which is being systematically transformed into a major regional center for tourism, business activity, and logistics.

Speaking about the priority areas of investment policy, the Deputy Minister highlighted key sectors, including the fuel and energy complex, oil and gas processing, the chemical industry, and transport and transit infrastructure.

Among the largest-scale initiatives of international significance are the project to construct the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the development of the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi. According to the speaker, the implementation of these projects and the utilization of their potential clearly demonstrate Turkmenistan’s aspiration for deep integration into global and regional logistics and energy systems.

A. Gurbanov emphasized the unwavering focus of the country’s economic policy on social priorities.

“For Turkmenistan, attracting investment is not an end in itself, but a tool for sustainable development in the interests of people. Funds invested in infrastructure, industry, and the social sphere directly contribute to improving citizens’ quality of life, creating new jobs, developing small and medium-sized businesses, and building a modern, competitive economy,” concluded the Deputy Foreign Minister.

Concluding his speech, A. Gurbanov reaffirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to continue providing comprehensive support for the development of business and investment cooperation, deepening contacts between the business communities of the countries, and creating favorable conditions for the implementation of joint initiatives.
