The “East-West” trans-Turkmen gas pipeline is under construction. Builders were on fixed schedule of the first half-year. They conducted the welding of links of one hundred kilometers of pipes of a large diameter. According to the construction program, another 162 kilometers of pipe links should be welded by the end of the year. For example, last July, daily welding works on the gas pipe line made up one kilometer on the average.
It is planned to complete the construction of the pipeline within five years. Its length from the “Shatltk” compressor station of the Mary province till the “Belek” compressor station of the Balkan province will come to nearly eight hundred kilometers with 1420-millimeter diameter of pipes. For realization of the scale project, the best workforce of the “Marynebitgazgurlushyk” Trust, which is also general contractor, “Turkmennebitgazabatlayish”, “Balkannebitgazgurlushyk”, “Dashoguznebitgazgurlushyk”, “Lebapnebitgazgurlushyk” trusts and of the construction company “Rukhabatgurlushyk” will be involved. Digging of ditches as it was planned by technological process considerably forestalls the insulating works. This activity was carried out on nearly 45 kilometers. Over 35 kilometers of them isolated from the corrosive ground and aquatic environment were laid with pipes.
As is known, in due time, the construction was launched personally by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the “Shatlyk” compressor station of the Mary province that enters into the system of the trunk gas pipelines Dovletabat-Deryalyk.
The East-West gas pipeline with the annual carrying capacity of 30 billion cubic meters of gas is to provide the combination of main deposits of the country into a single system for regulation of gas streams both for export and secured gas supply of populated areas on the territory of the country. It will become the frame of the gas-transport system for transportation of gas of the giant “Galkynysh” deposit, other underground stowage of the country.
